To maintain consistent quality, seedlings are available for Nursery Pick-Up only. 1 Year seedlings will be ready for pickup in April. Once they are ready, we will contact you to schedule pickup.
 
Chateau Rouge is a seedling of Gideon, and sibling of Iowa Golden from Red Fern Farm. In 2021, Red Fern Farm had a hard freeze in early May followed by a hard frost in late May, which resulted in a near total crop failure. Only a few of their oldest, tallest trees had a few nuts at the very top, where they were tall enough to escape the frost. No other trees on the farm had any nuts at all, except for Chateau Rouge and another Gideon seedling in the same row, Iowa Golden. These two young trees were the only trees on the farm to have a full crops of nuts.
 
Pot Sizes: Seedlings come in pots that are 4x4 inches square at the top and 9.5 inches tall to allow for excellent root development.
